On December 24, 1989, as families across Houston gathered to celebrate Christmas Eve, 34-year-old Bassam Saah tended to the store. At approximately 7:15 PM, a witness observed Bassam alive and attending to his duties. Fifteen minutes later, two customers entered the store to find an unsettling scene: the cash register open, money scattered on the floor, and no clerk in sight.
