A Promising Life Cut Short
On April 25, 1994, the tight-knit community of DeLand, Florida, was forever changed by a tragic event. Fifteen-year-old Laralee Spear, a vibrant and accomplished student at DeLand High School, was abducted and murdered shortly after stepping off her school bus. Her lifeless body was discovered near a burned-down house, a mere quarter-mile from her family home on Deerfoot Road. Despite exhaustive investigations spanning three decades, Laralee's killer remains unidentified, leaving her family and community in a state of unresolved grief.
The Day of the Disappearance
Laralee's routine on that fateful day mirrored countless others. She disembarked from her school bus around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of Deerfoot Road and South Spring Garden Avenue, intending to make the short walk home.
