In the early hours of Sunday, July 21, 2002, the tranquility of Washington, D.C.'s 4300 block of Varnum Place, NE, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 12:10 am, Charles Booker was shot at this location. Despite efforts to save him, Mr. Booker succumbed to his injuries, marking the beginning of a complex and unresolved homicide case.
