A Devoted Father and Passionate Mechanic

Hector J. Badillo Jr., born on February 3, 1985, was a beloved father of three and a skilled audio equipment installer with a deep passion for mechanics. Frequently, he spent his weekends at his father's automotive shop in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, where he enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. Hector was particularly proud of his 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle, a testament to his dedication and craftsmanship. 

The Tragic Night

In the early hours of July 2, 2016, Hector was outside his father's auto shop on the 700 block of North California Avenue. His fiancée sat in her SUV across the street as they wrapped up another late-night gathering. At approximately 3:30 a.m., an unidentified individual emerged from a nearby alley and opened fire.
