A Tragic Night in Loveland

In the early hours of August 15, 2003, the quiet town of Loveland, Colorado, was shaken by a tragic incident. At approximately 2:30 a.m., 56-year-old John Robert Miller was discovered lying critically injured in the 4200 block of US Highway 287. He had been the victim of a hit-and-run, a crime that remains unsolved to this day. Despite being rushed to medical facilities, Miller succumbed to his injuries two hours later, leaving behind a grieving family and a community searching for answers.

The Final Hours

Earlier that night, at around 1:30 a.m., a Larimer County Sheriff's deputy encountered Miller walking along the road near the intersection of 37th Street and US Highway 287. The deputy spoke with him briefly, noting nothing unusual, and continued on patrol. Tragically, just an hour later, Miller was found fatally injured approximately one mile north of this location.
