A Tragic Discovery

On January 14, 2010, the Anchorage Police Department responded to a distressing call from the 11000 block of Polar Drive. Leslie McDonald, concerned after multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach her husband, 44-year-old Steven Andrew Hardies, had left work to check on him. Upon entering their home around 12:30 p.m., she found Steven lying unresponsive in the kitchen. The sudden and tragic nature of his death sent shockwaves through the community.

A Life Rooted in Alaska

Born on April 27, 1965, in Seattle, Washington, Steven was the youngest of five children. His family relocated to Alaska in 1972, where he would spend the majority of his life. Over the years, Steven showcased his versatility and work ethic by engaging in various professions, including roles in the mining and restaurant industries. Eventually, he found his true calling as an electrician, building a successful career in Anchorage. His dedication to his craft was evident, but it also came with challenges. A severe back injury required multiple delicate spinal surgeries, during which steel rods were implanted to stabilize his vertebrae.
