A Tragic Evening in Austin

On the evening of October 28, 2016, the Austin neighborhood on Chicago's West Side was shaken by a violent incident that claimed the life of 38-year-old Hernando L. Caster. As he stood on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of West Huron Street, two unidentified gunmen approached and opened fire, striking him multiple times in the back and thighs. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Caster succumbed to his injuries shortly after the attack.

A Weekend Marred by Violence

Caster's murder was part of a particularly violent weekend in Chicago, coinciding with the city's hosting of three World Series games. Between Friday evening and Sunday night, 17 individuals lost their lives to gun violence, and an additional 41 were wounded.
