A Tragic Evening in Rogers Park

On the evening of August 9, 2016, the tranquility of Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood was shattered by a violent act that claimed the life of 25-year-old Cortez F. Tate. At approximately 8:27 p.m., Tate was in the 7300 block of North Rogers Avenue when he was shot in the head. Despite being rushed to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, he succumbed to his injuries at 11:24 p.m. The sudden and brutal nature of the attack left the community in shock and mourning.

A Young Life Remembered

Born on June 7, 1991, Cortez was a resident of Chicago's North Sheridan area. Friends and family recall him as a vibrant individual with a promising future ahead. His untimely death not only robbed them of a beloved son and friend but also left a void in the community that knew him.
