The Fateful Day

On April 4, 2014, around 11:36 a.m., Louisville Metro Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3100 block of Vermont Avenue, a neighborhood in west Louisville. Upon arrival, they discovered Ivan J. Bailey lying in a vacant lot, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene. Witnesses recounted hearing a rapid succession of gunshots, with one individual recalling, "I heard five, six, seven shots real quick."
