A Tragic Evening at Bannum Place Halfway House

On the night of June 29, 2005, a sense of normalcy pervaded the Bannum Place Halfway House, located at 2210 Adams Place, NE, in Washington, D.C. Residents and staff went about their routines, unaware that the tranquility would soon be shattered. At approximately 10:30 p.m., gunshots echoed through the facility, and 33-year-old Cleveland McKinney was found fatally wounded. The halfway house, intended as a place of rehabilitation and transition, had become the scene of a tragic homicide.
