A Tragic Evening in West Englewood

On the evening of November 1, 2016, the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago was shaken by a violent incident that claimed the lives of two men. Raymond D. Griffin, 30, and Tidarrius Smith, 27, were fatally shot while sitting on the porch of a residence on the very block where they lived. The assailants, driving by in a vehicle, opened fire, striking both men. Griffin sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m. Smith, also critically injured, succumbed to his injuries the following day.
