In the early hours of November 21, 2011, the city of Fairfield, Alabama, was shaken by the tragic death of 32-year-old Sherri Terese Smith. Born on December 2, 1978, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Sherri was a vibrant member of her community. A 1997 graduate of Fairfield High School, she was employed as a Financial Associate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and was diligently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the same institution. Beyond her professional and academic endeavors, Sherri was an active member of Faith Chapel Christian Center, embodying a spirit of dedication and service.
The Tragic Discovery
On that fateful Monday, Fairfield Police responded to a residential alarm at Sherri's home on Earlwood Road. Upon arrival, officers found Sherri in her bedroom, the victim of an apparent homicide.
