A Promising Life Cut Short
On June 16, 2017, the vibrant community of Miami was shaken by the tragic loss of 18-year-old Jedadiah "Eggy" Scatliffe. A recent graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Jedadiah had his sights set on attending Tallahassee Community College, eager to embark on the next chapter of his life. Known for his loving nature and infectious smile, he was a beacon of positivity among his peers and family. His untimely death not only robbed his family of a cherished member but also deprived the community of a young man poised to make significant contributions.
The Fateful Night at Williams Park
The evening of June 16 began as a somber gathering at Williams Park, located at N.W. 4th Avenue and 16th Street in Miami. Friends and family assembled to mourn the loss of a recently deceased friend. Amid the shared grief, an unforeseen tragedy struck. Gunfire erupted, and in the ensuing chaos, Jedadiah was fatally shot. Another individual sustained critical injuries during the incident.
