A Life Cut Short

In the early hours of August 29, 2005, the life of 49-year-old Gloria Banks was tragically ended. At approximately 5:15 a.m., Gloria was found stabbed to death in the 1900 block of 14th Street NW in Washington, D.C. She had been walking from her daughter's residence to a nearby bus stop when the fatal attack occurred. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the case remains unsolved.

A Family's Double Tragedy

The pain of Gloria's unsolved murder was compounded 16 years later when her daughter, 47-year-old Georgette Banks, was also found murdered. On Mother's Day, May 9, 2021, Georgette was discovered in the stairwell of an apartment building on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, her throat slit. The eerie parallel between the two cases—both women stabbed to death in Washington, D.C.—has left the family and community reeling.
