A Promising Life Cut Short

On the evening of February 11, 2017, the vibrant life of 21-year-old Tenisha Mallett was tragically ended in Chicago's West Side Austin neighborhood. A devoted mother to her 3-year-old daughter, Mallett was known for her aspirations and dedication to creating a better future for her family. Her untimely death not only robbed her daughter of a loving mother but also left a community grappling with the senselessness of gun violence.

The Fateful Evening

Around 8:30 p.m., Mallett stood outside a residence in the 100 block of North Mayfield Avenue, conversing with three acquaintances. Their gathering was abruptly shattered when a dark-colored SUV approached, and two armed individuals emerged, opening fire on the group.
