A Night of Celebration Turns Tragic

On the evening of May 7, 2005, 18-year-old Victor Barragan Jr., a senior at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth, Texas, attended his high school prom. The night, filled with joy and anticipation, was a significant milestone for Victor and his peers as they celebrated the culmination of their high school years. After the prom, Victor and several friends gathered at a residence located at 1720 W. Pafford Street to continue the festivities and celebrate a friend's birthday. The gathering was a typical post-prom event, filled with laughter and camaraderie among close friends.

The Sudden and Unforeseen Attack

As the celebration extended into the early hours of May 8, the group decided to leave the residence around 4 a.m. While they were preparing to depart and entering their vehicles, an unknown assailant began firing a gun from a field west of their location, adjacent to railroad tracks. The sudden gunfire struck Victor, inflicting fatal wounds to his head and chest. A 17-year-old girl was also injured in the attack, sustaining gunshot wounds to her hand and leg; she was treated at a hospital and later released.
