A Mission of Love
In August 2024, 58-year-old Mayolo Carrillo Tovar embarked on a journey from Guanajuato, Mexico, to Austin, Texas, driven by a profound desire to see his terminally ill mother one last time. Despite efforts to obtain a visa, his application was denied. Determined not to let bureaucratic hurdles prevent a final reunion, Mayolo made the heart-wrenching decision to cross the U.S.-Mexico border without authorization. His family, understanding the emotional weight of this decision, supported his choice, hoping for a successful and swift reunion.

Alarmed by the sudden silence, Mayolo's family initiated a search, reaching out to local authorities, immigration services, hospitals, and detention centers. The Maverick County Sheriff's Office confirmed receiving an emergency call from the vicinity on the day of Mayolo's disappearance but withheld further details. Despite exhaustive efforts, no substantial leads emerged, leaving the family in a state of anguish and uncertainty.

The family faced the compounded grief of losing both a mother and, potentially, a brother, without closure or understanding of Mayolo's fate....Read More
