The Fateful Encounter

On the afternoon of April 7, 2016, the bustling streets of Chicago's Humboldt Park neighborhood were disrupted by a sudden and violent act. At approximately 3:30 p.m., in the 3400 block of West Chicago Avenue, two young men, 18-year-old Diangelo Black and 23-year-old Deandre Trotter, were approached by two unidentified individuals. Without warning, one of the assailants drew a firearm and opened fire, striking both Black and Trotter multiple times. The attackers then fled the scene, leaving the victims critically wounded on the sidewalk.

Immediate Aftermath

Emergency responders swiftly arrived and transported both men to Stroger Hospital. Despite the medical team's efforts, Deandre Trotter, a resident of the 10900 block of South Racine, succumbed to his injuries at 4:02 p.m. that same day.
