A Fateful Evening Walk
On the evening of July 9, 2016, 50-year-old John Field set out for a routine walk with his dog near 1st Avenue and Broadway in Denver, Colorado. This ordinary activity took a tragic turn when a passing black Chevrolet Camaro came perilously close to his pet. In a moment of protective instinct, Field threw a beer bottle at the vehicle, shattering it upon impact. The occupants of the car responded with lethal force, opening fire and striking Field. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries after several months of intensive medical care.
