A Family Man and a Brother Embark on a Cross-Country Adventure
In March 2020, brothers Matthew and Philip Reagan set out from their hometown in Ohio on a cross-country journey to California. Matthew, 39, was a devoted husband and father of five young boys: Lucas, Joseph, Patrick, Michael, and Noah. He worked as a mechanical engineer and was known for his dedication to family and work. Philip, 29, had recently secured a maintenance job at the Montecito Sequoia Lodge in California and was eager to start a new chapter in his life. The brothers planned to make the trip an adventure, exploring various sights along the way, including the scenic Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly.
A Fateful Detour Through the Navajo Nation
As the brothers traversed the Southwest, they decided to take a detour through the Navajo Nation to visit Spider Rock. Unbeknownst to them, the area had recently been closed due to the emerging COVID-19 pandemic. On March 20, 2020, they found themselves near Sawmill, Arizona.
