A Promising Life Cut Short
In the early hours of May 7, 2017, tragedy struck the Montclare neighborhood on Chicago's Northwest Side. Nineteen-year-old Jaime Arceo, the son of the family who owned and operated the local restaurant El Taconazo, was fatally shot during a robbery at the establishment. Jaime was known for his dedication to his family and their business, often working late shifts to support their endeavors. His untimely death not only devastated his loved ones but also sent shockwaves through the tight-knit community.
The Fateful Night
Around 2:50 a.m., an armed assailant wearing a ski mask entered El Taconazo through the back entrance. The intruder immediately targeted a 22-year-old employee, shooting him in the back. Turning his attention to Jaime, the gunman demanded he open the cash register. Despite complying, Jaime was shot multiple times. Both victims were rushed to nearby hospitals; tragically, Jaime succumbed to his injuries, while the other employee survived and was reported in stable condition.
