Introduction

On December 5, 2014, the Loyola University Chicago community was shaken by the tragic death of 23-year-old student Mutahir Rauf. A promising pre-med student from Pakistan, Rauf's life was abruptly ended during an attempted robbery near the university's Rogers Park campus. Despite extensive investigations, his murder remains unsolved, leaving a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the academic community.

The Fateful Evening

On that cold December evening, Rauf was walking with his brother in the 1200 block of West Albion Avenue around 7:50 p.m. Two masked men approached them, brandishing a handgun, and demanded their belongings.
