A Promising Life Cut Short

On February 22, 2017, the city of Chicago was shaken by the tragic murder of 20-year-old Wilteeah K. Jones. Wilteeah, who was nine months pregnant, was eagerly anticipating the birth of her daughter, Mileah, due in just a few weeks. Her life, filled with hope and promise, was abruptly ended in a senseless act of violence that also claimed the lives of her boyfriend, Malik Bingham, and their unborn child.

The Fateful Night

The evening began with a joyous celebration of Wilteeah's grandmother's 75th birthday at the family's home in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. After the festivities, Wilteeah and Malik left together, unaware of the danger that awaited them. Shortly thereafter, they were found shot to death in their vehicle on the 7600 block of South Champlain Avenue. Both were pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, along with their unborn daughter.
