Discovery of Ashley Lane's Body

In the early hours of May 14, 2013, a passerby made a grim discovery in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 5:40 AM, the body of 37-year-old Ashley Lane was found lying partially on the sidewalk and partially on the grass in the 100 block of 50th Street North, in the Woodlawn neighborhood. She had been fatally shot in the back. The Birmingham Police Department was promptly notified and initiated a homicide investigation.
