In the early hours of May 9, 2012, the Montbello neighborhood in Denver was rocked by a sudden eruption of gunfire. At approximately 12:50 a.m., 24-year-old James "Jay" Dishmon IV stood outside a residence at 13390 East 55th Avenue, accompanied by several friends. Without warning, unknown assailants opened fire on the group, resulting in four individuals being shot. Tragically, Dishmon succumbed to his injuries, leaving a community grappling with grief and unanswered questions.

The Immediate Aftermath
