The Fateful Evening

On Monday, May 19, 2014, at approximately 11:15 PM, the tranquility of the Unit block of 55th Street, SE, in Washington, D.C., was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Residents emerged to find 22-year-old Ronnell Daniels lying mortally wounded, the victim of a senseless shooting. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, Ronnell succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) immediately launched an investigation, but as days turned into weeks, the case grew cold, leaving a family in mourning and a community yearning for answers.
