Early Life and Education
Barbara Colby was born on July 2, 1939, in New York City. She spent much of her youth in New Orleans, where her passion for acting was nurtured during her high school years. After graduating in 1957, she earned a scholarship to Bard College in New York and later studied for a semester at the Sorbonne in Paris. These academic experiences laid a strong foundation for her future in the performing arts.
Theatrical Roots and Broadway Debut
Colby's acting career began on the stage. In 1964, she delivered a notable performance in "Six Characters in Search of an Author," which led to her Broadway debut in "The Devils" the following year.
