The disappearance of Kimberly Sue Doss in 1980 remains one of Davenport, Iowa's most perplexing cold cases. At just 14 years old, Kimberly vanished under circumstances that have left her family and investigators searching for answers for over four decades.

Early Life and Background

Born on February 12, 1966, Kimberly was a Caucasian female with brown hair and brown eyes. She stood 5'2" tall and weighed approximately 125 pounds. Notably, she had a gap between her upper front teeth and one chipped tooth. 

Relocation to Davenport

In the months leading up to her disappearance, Kimberly moved from Houston, Texas, to Davenport, Iowa, to be closer to her friends and boyfriend. Although she initially planned to live with her father, she chose instead to stay with her boyfriend and his family. Throughout this period, Kimberly maintained regular contact with her mother in Texas. 

The Day of Disappearance

On March 20, 1980, Kimberly called her mother to inform her of her plans to return to Houston. She mentioned purchasing a bus ticket and meeting a girl named Kathy from Chicago during her travels.
