A Tragic Night in Pocatello

In the early hours of June 14, 1981, the quiet community of Pocatello, Idaho, was shaken by a harrowing event. Fourteen-year-old Linda Dianne Smith was at home, entrusted with the care of her 9-year-old brother, Ben, while their mother was out for the evening. As the night deepened, an unimaginable terror unfolded within the walls of their residence on North 8th Avenue.

The Abduction Witnessed

Around 2 a.m., Ben was abruptly awakened by the muffled sounds of a struggle. To his horror, he saw an unknown man forcibly dragging his sister, Linda, out of her bedroom. Summoning all his courage, young Ben attempted to intervene, but the assailant overpowered him, pushing him aside.
