In the early hours of July 9, 2000, the city of Wilmington, Delaware, awoke to a grim discovery. The partially clothed body of 28-year-old Carmen Rodriguez was found concealed in the underbrush of a secluded area near Speakman Park. The young woman had been brutally beaten and strangled, her life extinguished in a senseless act of violence. The Fateful Night

Carmen was last seen alive on the night of July 8, 2000. Witnesses reported seeing her around 10 p.m., walking near the intersection of North Pine and 30th streets.
