A Life Cut Short

On March 26, 2016, 27-year-old Cordero Mosley was fatally shot six times on Chicago's South Side. His untimely death added to the alarming statistics of gun violence in the city, which had seen a significant surge in homicides during that period. In the first three months of 2016 alone, Chicago experienced over 135 gun-related homicides, surpassing the combined totals of New York and Los Angeles. This escalation underscored the city's struggle with pervasive violence, particularly in its South and West Side neighborhoods. 

A Community in Mourning

Mosley's death resonated deeply within his community, especially among those tirelessly advocating against gun violence. His close friend, Camiella Williams, an anti-gun violence activist who had already lost 23 loved ones to shootings, was profoundly affected by his passing. Williams and Mosley had been friends since grade school, sharing countless memories and experiences.
