A Life Cut Short

On August 3, 2017, the South Fulton Police Department responded to a distressing scene on White City Road in College Park, Georgia. Inside a residence, they discovered 45-year-old Joya Chester with severe head injuries, the result of a brutal bludgeoning. Despite medical intervention, Chester succumbed to her injuries on August 11, 2017, at Grady Memorial Hospital. Her untimely death has left a void in the community and a case that remains unsolved.

The Immediate Aftermath

In the days following the attack, authorities sought to piece together the events leading up to the assault. Witnesses reported that Chester had met with an unidentified man inside her home shortly before the incident. This individual was last seen driving a light blue, two-door Mercedes-Benz coupe, possibly a CLK model. Described as a heavyset African American male, approximately 6-foot-1, with medium-length twists and a small goatee, he was known to frequent the areas around Roosevelt Highway and White City Road.
