Background of Sandra Jacobson

Sandra Mary Jacobson, born on December 8, 1959, was a dedicated employee of the North Dakota Department of Transportation. At 36, she was the mother of two sons: 16-year-old Spencer Nastrom from a previous marriage, and 5-year-old John Henry Jacobson with her estranged second husband, Alan Jacobson. Described as a devoted mother, Sandra was particularly close to her elder son, Spencer. Following her separation from Alan three months prior to her disappearance, Sandra resided in a trailer in Center, North Dakota, with her two sons. 

Events Leading Up to the Disappearance

On November 16, 1996, Sandra planned to have dinner at her parents' home in Bismarck. During her drive, she made a distressing call to the Bismarck Police Department, reporting suspected satanic ritual abuse occurring at a farm near Center. She expressed distrust towards local law enforcement in Center and Oliver County, which led her to contact Bismarck authorities instead. Sandra and John arrived at her parents' residence around 7:30 p.m. Noticing Sandra's apparent mental distress, her mother, Bernice Grensteiner, suggested seeking medical attention.
