A Promising Young Life Cut Short

On July 22, 2007, the city of Rockford, Illinois, was shaken by the tragic death of 17-year-old Alexander Michael Delgado. Known affectionately as "Smiley" to his friends and family, Alexander was a vibrant young man with a bright future ahead. He had attended East High School through 2007 and was in the process of completing his General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Described as an awesome brother, Alexander cherished spending time with his siblings, listening to music, and engaging in various hobbies. 

The Fateful Night

In the early hours of Sunday, July 22, 2007, Alexander was walking home after leaving a friend's house. He was just a few blocks away from his residence when tragedy struck. At approximately 12:51 a.m., Rockford police discovered his lifeless body at the intersection of West State Street and Garver Avenue.
