A Tragic Loss on Odessa Street

On December 3, 2015, 19-year-old Avery Malcolmb "Shug" McKnight III was fatally shot on the front porch of an abandoned home at 1204 Odessa Street in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident, which also left two others injured, marked a significant escalation in gang-related violence in the area. Witnesses reported seeing two men approach the victims on foot before opening fire, while another account described a dark-colored Toyota Camry from which a rifle was discharged. Despite these observations, the assailants managed to flee the scene, and no arrests have been made in connection with McKnight's death.

The Aftermath: A Surge in Retaliatory Violence

McKnight's murder did not occur in isolation; it served as a catalyst for a series of violent retaliations between rival gangs "Problem Child Entertainment" (PCE) and "187." The tension between these groups had been simmering, notably intensifying after a physical altercation at a Kodak Black concert in November 2015.
