A Tragic Night in Washington Park

In the early hours of Sunday, April 13, 2014, the Washington Park neighborhood on Chicago's South Side became the scene of a tragic event. At approximately 2:40 a.m., 32-year-old Corey Brownlee was fatally shot in the chest while in the 6000 block of South Indiana Avenue. Despite prompt medical attention, Brownlee succumbed to his injuries, adding to the city's escalating tally of gun violence victims. 

A Weekend Marred by Violence

Brownlee's death was part of a particularly violent weekend in Chicago. Over a span of 36 hours, 36 individuals were shot across the city, underscoring the pervasive nature of gun-related crimes. Among the fatalities were 20-year-old Joshua Martinez and 34-year-old Shannon Mack, both victims of separate shooting incidents.
