A Life Anchored in Dreams and Family

George DeCosta II was a man whose passions were as vast as the waters he loved to fish. Whether casting lines in fresh or saltwater, George found solace and joy in the simple act of fishing. Beyond his personal hobbies, he harbored ambitious dreams: relocating to Houston, acquiring a larger boat, and gifting his mother a seafood restaurant. These aspirations, however, were tragically cut short. In 2016, at the age of 46, George was fatally shot in Jacksonville, Florida, leaving behind his partner of 26 years, ReNee Sanders, her two sons, his sister, and his mother, Carol DeCosta. The void left by his untimely death is felt deeply by his family and the community.

Houston was more than a destination for George; it was the embodiment of his future. He and ReNee were actively preparing for a new chapter in Texas, with George making frequent trips to lay the groundwork for their move. Despite their long-standing partnership, the couple had postponed marriage, aiming for a celebration that included their families.
