Introduction

In the early hours of September 3, 2016, the city of Indianapolis was shaken by the tragic death of 22-year-old Jakoby D. Hughes. Found fatally shot near the intersection of East 22nd and Bellefontaine Streets, Hughes' untimely demise remains an unsolved case, leaving his family and community yearning for answers.

The Night of the Incident

At approximately 12:45 a.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to reports of a shooting near East 22nd and Bellefontaine Streets, just west of the Monon Trail.
