A Tragic Evening in Southeast D.C.

On the night of February 7, 1996, the tranquility of Washington, D.C.'s Southeast neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. At approximately 9:00 pm, Jeremy Carpenter was fatally shot in the 1500 block of 25th Street, SE. Despite the prompt response from law enforcement, the perpetrator managed to evade capture, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The Immediate Aftermath

In the days following the murder, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) conducted extensive interviews with residents and potential witnesses.
