Discovery of the Crime Scene

On the afternoon of Saturday, May 4, 1996, at approximately 4:57 PM, the lifeless body of 34-year-old Mae Edith Thornton was found in a wooded area near 1600 SE 4th Avenue in Gainesville, Florida. She was discovered lying face down, and evidence suggested that she had been deceased for some time before her body was found.

Last Known Movements

In the early hours of that same day, Mae was last seen around 12:30 AM. According to reports, she visited her uncle's residence at approximately 1:00 AM, but he was unable to let her in as he was in the shower at the time.
