A Promising Life Cut Short

On October 13, 2012, the life of 17-year-old Modell McCambry was tragically cut short in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. Described by family members as an aspiring football player aiming for a scholarship, Modell's future was filled with potential. That evening, as he and his 18-year-old cousin walked along South Rhodes Avenue to meet a friend, they were approached by an assailant who opened fire, fatally wounding Modell and critically injuring his cousin. A Family's Repeated Heartbreak

The pain of losing Modell was compounded by a previous tragedy the family had endured. Just months earlier, Modell's older brother, Marlon Monroe, had been shot and killed in the same neighborhood.
