A Life Cut Short

On November 20, 2016, the life of 22-year-old Odell Jones was tragically ended by an act of gun violence in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood. Jones, a resident of the 6400-block of South Claremont Avenue, was known for his outgoing personality and was considered "one of a kind" by those who knew him. His untimely death not only devastated his family and friends but also added to the alarming statistics of gun-related homicides in the city.

The Night of the Incident

At approximately 12:50 a.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 6400-block of South Oakley Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Jones lying face down on the sidewalk, having sustained a gunshot wound to his back. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
