A Tragic Afternoon in Southeast Washington, D.C.
On Monday, June 8, 2015, at approximately 4:01 PM, the tranquility of the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, SE, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Mr. Qur'an Vines was found fatally shot in the rear of this residential area, marking a somber day for the community. Despite the efforts of law enforcement and the passage of time, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unresolved.
The Immediate Aftermath
In the days following the murder, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) launched an intensive investigation. Flyers were distributed throughout the neighborhood, and a reward of up to $25,000 was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
