Discovery of a Tragic Incident

On May 1, 2017, Louisville Metro Police conducted a welfare check at 1315 Rosewell Avenue after concerns arose from family members who hadn't heard from the residents. Upon entering the home, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of 60-year-old Eugene "Gene" Turner and his 72-year-old aunt, Sudella Davis. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds, marking a grim day for the Chickasaw neighborhood. 

Gene Turner was a well-known figure in West Louisville, owning the popular Club Cedar located at the corner of 26th and Cedar Streets. Described by friends and patrons as respectful and generous, Turner's establishment was a staple in the community.
