Discovery of the Crime Scene

On March 24, 2013, the quiet neighborhood of Northwest Rockford was shaken by the tragic discovery of William S. Presley, a 47-year-old resident, found shot to death in the garage of his home at 1421 LaBelle Avenue. The absence of forced entry suggested that Presley either knew his assailant or was taken by surprise. Living alone, he operated a small business from his property, adding layers of complexity to the investigation. 

Presley's residence featured a large storage shed at the rear, addressed as 1420 Blue Ridge. Following his murder, this shed was burglarized, leading to the arrests of two Rockford residents on burglary charges. However, authorities found no direct link between the burglary and Presley's homicide. 
