A Quiet Neighborhood Shattered by Violence
On the evening of May 23, 2002, the tranquility of the Franklin Commons apartment complex at 105 Franklin Street NE was brutally disrupted. Residents, accustomed to the peaceful ambiance of their community, were horrified to learn that three young men had been found dead in a second-floor apartment, each victim of multiple close-range gunshot wounds. The victims were identified as 21-year-old Elvon "Smoke" Miller, 25-year-old Mitchell "MickMo" Johnson, and 21-year-old Daniel "Ears" Dimoh. The grotesque nature of the crime left the neighborhood in shock and mourning.

Elvon Miller, known affectionately as "Smoke" for his dark complexion, had a history that intertwined with both promise and hardship.
