The Fateful Day: November 13, 2021

On November 13, 2021, a seemingly routine boating excursion on the Delaware River turned tragic for three young men from Deptford, New Jersey. Joseph P. McLaughlin, 24, and Brian S. Palangi, 26, along with a third companion, embarked on a 19-foot recreational vessel. As they navigated near Red Bank Battlefield Park in National Park, NJ, their boat began taking on water, leading to a catastrophic capsizing around 2:10 p.m. 

Immediate Rescue Efforts

In the immediate aftermath, the third individual was fortunate to be rescued by good Samaritans aboard a passing vessel. He was subsequently treated at a nearby hospital and released. However, McLaughlin and Palangi were not as fortunate.
