The Final Voyage: A Father and Son Set Sail

On June 7, 2018, 14-year-old Adagio “Dag” Talifero and his father, 68-year-old Gerald “Storm” Talifero, embarked on a sailing trip from Goleta Beach, California, with the intention of reaching Hawaii. The voyage was planned to last a few weeks, and the pair had purchased airline tickets to return to California on September 1. Adagio and Gerald shared a close relationship, often traveling together. In the days leading up to their departure, Gerald visited friends and relatives in Arizona, Santa Barbara, and Ojai, California, leaving some of his belongings with them.
