A Quiet Night in Marrero
On the evening of July 9, 1995, 19-year-old Johnny Babino left his home on Benedict Drive in Marrero, Louisiana. A friend dropped him off around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Glendella Street and U.S. Highway 90 in nearby Avondale. Johnny, known by his nickname "Mookie," told his friend he was going to meet someone. He was never seen or heard from again.
A Distinctive Appearance
Johnny stood 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed approximately 125 pounds. He had black hair, brown eyes, and a medium brown complexion. He was known to have a mustache and had five gold crowns on his upper teeth. A tattoo on his left hand bore the letters "HDP." On the night he disappeared, he was wearing a white Reebok shirt, black Girbaud jeans, black Nike Air Jordan sneakers, white socks, and a watch with a blue band and a blue/chrome face.
Circumstances Surrounding His Disappearance
At the time of his disappearance, Johnny was reportedly carrying $16,000 in cash. Investigators believe he may have been involved in drug activities. Additionally, there was an active warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated battery and armed robbery. These factors have led authorities to suspect that Johnny may have met with foul play.
