A Routine Journey Turns Tragic

On July 6, 1995, 16-year-old Theodore Bavilla embarked on what was expected to be a routine boat trip from Kulukak Bay to Togiak, Alaska. Navigating the waters in an open 19-foot skiff, Theodore set out alone, a common practice in the region where boating is integral to daily life.
